Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Joy Scout Project is operated by Forced Joy Project, LLC ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it readable. If anything is unclear, email us at [email].

The short version

We collect the information we need to run our programs, send you the emails you signed up for, and keep our community running. We don't sell your information, and we never will.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you sign up for our emails, join a waitlist, buy a program, join Joy Scout Club, or contact us, we collect things like your name, email address, and any information you choose to include in forms or messages.

Payment information. Payments are processed by our payment providers (Squarespace Commerce / Stripe / PayPal) for purchases on our website, and Mighty Networks for Joy Scout Club memberships). We don't see or store your full card details.

What you share in the community. Anything you post in Joy Scout Club or your program's private space, such as posts, comments, photos, and profile information, is visible to other members of that space. Please share only what you're comfortable with other members seeing.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, ours collects basic information when you visit, such as your browser type, device, pages viewed, and general location (city or region, not your exact address). This is collected through cookies and similar tools and helps us understand how people use the site.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Deliver the programs and memberships you've signed up for

  • Send you emails you've opted into, like Field Notes, waitlist updates, and program information

  • Respond to your questions and messages

  • Process payments and manage renewals

  • Understand how our website is used so we can improve it

Emails

If you sign up for our emails, we'll send you things like Field Notes, program announcements, and occasional offers. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out anytime. If you're in a program, you'll still receive emails you need for that program, like schedules and access information, even if you've unsubscribed from marketing emails.

Who we share it with

We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the services we use to run Joy Scout Project, and only as needed for them to do their jobs:

  • Squarespace: our website and online store

  • Flodesk: email newsletters and waitlists

  • Mighty Networks: Joy Scout Club and program communities

  • Zoom: live gatherings and calls

  • Stripe: payment processing

  • Google Workspace: email and file storage

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We may also share information if required by law.

Live calls and recordings

Live calls may be recorded so members who can't attend can watch later. Recordings are shared only within the relevant program or community space. If you'd prefer not to appear in a recording, you're welcome to keep your camera off or rename yourself.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to function properly and to understand how visitors use it. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well without them.

How long we keep information

We keep your information for as long as you're a subscriber, member, or customer, and as long as we need it afterward for legitimate business reasons, like keeping records of purchases. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).

Your choices

You can:

  • Unsubscribe from our emails anytime using the link in any email

  • Ask what information we have about you

  • Ask us to correct or delete your information

  • Delete or edit your posts and profile in Joy Scout Club

To make a request, email dana@joyscoutproject.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we'll honor those requests.

Children

Our programs are designed for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know by email or with a notice on our website.
